Great news, the renewal of the viewing platform has been completed.
Many thanks to Noble Construction Services (UK) Ltd, who completed the works and to all the donations collected / allocated for this project. These were both individual (memorial donation) and from organisations including the Co-op community fund, The Dawber Trust, and Siemens Energy.
The previous platform was nearly 25 years old, with regular repairs undertaken over the last few years. The replacement was much needed, which was proven whilst dismantling the old platform as 5 of the 6 main support posts had totally rotted through and fell over by themselves!
The new platform is slightly smaller and a much simpler design which should make maintenance much easier.
