Liquorice Park

A beautiful natural space, in the heart of the city of Lincoln

A Beautiful Natural Space
In the Heart of Lincoln

A message from Phil Cragg, Chair of Trustees

January 24, 2022 by gardener Leave a Comment

Greetings and a happy new year to all friends of Liquorice Park.  The last two years have been tough and we are very fortunate to have our community park in which to unwind, relax and breathe.  All our volunteers worked throughout lockdown and they have reported that they have never seen or talked to more visitors over this period of time.  The majority of you were complimentary and appreciative of our efforts as volunteers.  It has reminded us of how important our green space is for our wellbeing.

Due to COVID we have not had a public  AGM recently so I take this opportunity to communicate some areas of focus for 2022 that  we are considering:

  1. An upgrade of the performance area seating and surface;
  2. Southern perimeter boundary slippage. A civil engineers report has been obtained and discussions on action are ongoing;
  3. Viewing platform repair;
  4. New signage on the four entrances;
  5. Scented/butterfly garden to be created opposite herb garden entrance;
  6. A commemorative feature to celebrate the Queen’s platinum jubilee.

General maintenance of steps, paths, trees and plants is ongoing and will run concurrently with the new projects.  For our small band of volunteers, it’s a huge task and I thank everyone who works so hard.

May  we ask a favour from you?   If you haven’t already submitted one, can you please complete a brief questionnaire on how you view the park? What you like, what you don’t like and what you would like to see. It will help guide the Trustees to make decisions for the future. Complete the survey.

Hopefully our AGM scheduled for Monday 4th April 2022 at 7pm (venue to be confirmed) will go ahead. We see 2022 as a year of opportunity and thank you all for your continued support.
